Accreditation: MEM30205 Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade

This qualification is part of the Metal and Engineering Training Package. It is for apprentices in manufacturing, engineering and related industry areas. It is designed to provide apprentices with a high level of basic and advanced skills which they can build on through on-the-job training including marking out, use of hand tools, drawing, turning, milling and grinding.

A qualification in Engineering – Mechanical Trade will give apprentices the backing to work effectively in a range of mechanical areas. These areas include but are not limited to:

• CNC Machinist
• Metal Fitter
• Metal Machinist
• Plant Maintenance Fitter
• Toolmaker

Qualification Requirements

The minimum requirements for achievement of the Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade are completion of all of the Mandatory units of competency listed below, and completion of Mechanical Trade stream units from the list below to the value of at least 40 points, and completion of Specialisation units to bring the total value of Mechanical Trade stream and Specialisation units to at least 73 points.

Enrolment Condition

Enrolment in this course only for an apprentice with an approved training contract.

Training Prospects requires Photo ID by commencement of course. The following are acceptable sources of evidence: 

  • Current driver’s licence or learner’s permit
  • Current proof of age card (issued by Services SA)
  • Current Australian Passport in conjunction with evidence of residential address
  • Current School Student Card
  • Australian full birth certificate

Course Fees

This course is funded through the Government of South Australia's WorkReady initiative.

The total course fee is $1,950.00 ($650 will be invoiced per year for 3 years). Visit www.skills.sa.gov.au for eligibility criteria.
