This qualification provides a licensed trade outcome in plumbing in roles such as plumber, gasfitter, drainer or roof plumber. Apprentices must achieve a minimum of four of the following plumbing streams: Water (Mandatory); Sanitary; Drainage; Mechanical Services; Roofing; Gas Services.

Training Prospects offers training in all six streams of plumbing. The training includes the essential occupational health and safety requirements, using tools and equipment, installing water services, sanitary stacks, drainage systems, trench support and gas installations.

Qualification Requirements

To achieve a Certificate III in Plumbing a minimum of four of the streams must be completed

  • Water Stream (Mandatory) - 24 compulsory units and 5 electives from the water stream
  • Sanitary Stream (Mandatory)- 6 compulsory units and 4 electives from the sanitary stream
  • Drainage Stream - 9 compulsory units and 3 elective units from the drainage stream
  • Roofing Stream - 8 compulsory units and 4 elective units from the roofing stream
  • Gas Services Stream - 12 compulsory units and 5 elective units from the gas services stream

Individual competency units gained in one qualification or sub-sector stream may also be used as a credit for any other qualification or sub-sector in which the unit is listed in the table as either a core or elective.

Enrolment Condition

Enrolment in this course only for an apprentice with an approved training contract.

Training Prospects requires Photo ID by commencement of course. The following are acceptable sources of evidence: 

  • Current driver’s licence or learner’s permit
  • Current proof of age card (issued by Services SA)
  • Current Australian Passport in conjunction with evidence of residential address
  • Current School Student Card
  • Australian full birth certificate

Course Fees

This course is funded through the Government of South Australia's WorkReady initiative.
